Recognising IDPwD through dance

Para and Ability Dance Western Australia (PADWA) is a charity that provides inclusive dance opportunities for people with disability. Established in 2019, the organisation promotes health, wellbeing and social connection through accessible dance programs. PADWA is in Perth, Western Australia.

Tell us a little bit about how you recognised IDPwD in 2025?

PADWA held a Dance Extravaganza afternoon tea to showcase dancers living with disability. This is an annual event for our organisation. It helps to showcase the talents of dancers of all abilities and highlights the importance of access and inclusion within the world of dance.

What does IDPwD mean to you?

IDPwD is an opportunity to challenge stereotypes about what dance is and who can participate.

Who were your partners?

This event was supported by the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, and Sport, and Developmental Disability WA. Separate events were also held in partnership with the Shire of Narrogin and City of Mandurah.
