Supported cycling along the Northern Rivers Rail Trail
Cycling without Age Burringbar activity along the Northern Rivers Rail Trail.
This free program provides people of all abilities the chance to enjoy the beauty of the rail trail and connect with the community.
Trishaws, each accommodating up to two passengers, are operated by trained volunteers, making them perfect for seniors, individuals with limited mobility seeking a relaxing and scenic ride through the Burringbar to Mooball section of the trail.

Rail Trail Accessibility:
Accessibility Goal: We aim to make the Rail Trail welcoming for everyone. We encourage those with disabilities to review our “Access for All” webpage, plan their visit, and consider bringing a companion for their first trip.
Getting There:
Location: Cycling Without Age service starts at Masterson Park, Burringbar, near Burringbar Memorial Reserve.
Directions: Burringbar Station is 18 km from Murwillumbah Railway Station, via Tweed Valley Way.
Parking: Ample public parking with two accessible bays near the Rail Trail at Burringbar Memorial Reserve.
Trail Access & Mobility:
Trail Surface: Sealed asphalt covers the 2.15 km section between Burringbar and Mooball, and from Murwillumbah Station to Tweed Regional Gallery. Other sections are solid and suitable for mobility scooters.
Estimated Travel Times: Walking from Burringbar to Mooball takes about 26 minutes; cycling takes around 10 minutes. Allow extra time for breaks if travelling independently.
Markers: Location markers every kilometre show unique codes (e.g., “NRRT###”), indicating distance from Murwillumbah Station.
Facilities & Amenities:
Pathways: Concrete paths connect the trail to public toilets at Burringbar and Mooball.
Assistance Animals: Assistance animals are welcome, but all dogs must be on a short lead. Owners are responsible for cleaning up.
Rest Stops: Shaded seating and water stations are available at Burringbar and Mooball.
Accessible Toilets: Toilets are available at Burringbar Memorial Reserve, Masterson
Park, and Mooball. These older facilities may not meet current accessibility standards, and we are working on improvements as funding allows.
