Art After Hours: Dramatic reading and talk: Who’s gonna love you? With Debra Keenahan and Leisa Prowd
Join us for a dramatic reading from a new play by Debra Keenahan.
Can someone be too ugly to love? All her life Scarlet’s been told her disability made her undesirable. In this battle to defy expectations and claim her dignity, Scarlet must first convince herself she is lovable. Disability led and focused, this work addresses a question of basic human want and desire.
Following the reading, join playwright Debra Keenahan and performer Leisa Prowd for a discussion about the importance of representation and telling disability-led stories.
Debra Keenahan is a writer, artist, psychologist, disability advocate and academic. Leisa Prowd is a dancer, performance artist, life model and teacher.
This reading and talk will be Auslan interpreted.
Presented in association with the International Day of People with Disability, 3 December.
