Australian Government supports the 2018 Focus on Ability Short Film Festival, 5 September 2018
For the 10th consecutive year, on 5 September 2018 NOVA Employment presented the Focus on Ability Short Film Festival. The Festival is for people of all talent levels and is dedicated to showcasing the abilities of people with disability.
The Australian Government, through the Department of Social Services, supported the 2018 Focus on Ability Short Film Festival.
The Festival received entries from a record 297 people from 26 countries. Film-makers from around the world attended the red-carpet awards ceremony at The Concourse, Sydney, hosted by Festival Founder Martin Wren, CEO of NOVA Employment, and Festival Ambassador, seven-time Logie-winning actor, Ms Paula Duncan AM.
Ms Duncan commented that the Festival and its new partners and sponsors enables the recognition of the importance of inclusion and diversity across the industry.
The film awards are divided into the following six categories:
- Australia and New Zealand Schools Documentary
- Australia and New Zealand Schools Short Film
- Australian Open Documentary
- Australian Open Short Film
- International Documentary
- International Short Film
