Our sponsorships
The Australian Government, through the Department of Social Services, sponsors a small number of national awards, events and activities across Australia. The aim of our sponsorships is to:
- raise awareness of International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) across Australia
- promote awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability among mainstream audiences.
We do not currently provide funding or sponsorship opportunities for local IDPwD events.

Our sponsorships in 2024 were:
ABC Storyteller Scholarship and Content Commissioning Fund
IDPwD partnered with the ABC to showcase the creative work of emerging content makers with disability.
The partnership included professional employment opportunities for people with disability. It also included stories by, and about, people with disability across ABC:
- websites
- radio
- social media
- TV

Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Sport Performance Awards
The AIS Sport Performance Awards recognises the country’s leading athletes, teams and coaches.
IDPwD sponsored the 2024 Male and Female Para-Athlete of the Year awards. The aim was to recognise the contributions and achievements of Australian para-athletes in sport and beyond.

AUSactive National Awards Program
The AUSactive National Awards Program recognises and celebrates the outstanding achievement of the Australian exercise and active health sector.
IDPwD was the 2024 Inclusivity and Diversity Partner. The aim was to recognise businesses and individuals who strive to foster inclusive and diverse communities in the preventative health and exercise industry.

Focus on Ability Short Film Festival
The Focus on Ability Short Film Festival encourages filmmakers to showcase the abilities of people with disability through the powerful medium of film. Free public screenings were held across Australia and overseas.
