IDPwD Disability Community Leaders – Danny Dickson
Danny is thirteen years old and currently completing Year 7 at his local high school. He is a big fan of Doctor Who, spends too much time on his iPod Touch and describes himself as ‘hilarious’. A champion for people with disability, Danny says he “doesn’t know what his disability is called but he is certain he has a disability—or, as his brother Josh calls it, a ‘super ability’”.
Having undergone intensive speech therapy since he was 17 months old, Danny last year appeared as co-MC at the Children with Disability launch and promoted International Day of People with Disability at a community assembly and on national television.
“I am very excited and proud to be a community leader for International Day of People with Disability. It gives me a hope that children with disability will be given greater opportunities to be included and understood in Australia.”
