Disability Community Leaders

Six Australians will champion the cause of people with disability following their appointment by the Australian Government to promote the 2011 International Day of People with Disability and National Disability Awards. The six leaders were announced by the Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Jenny Macklin, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Carers, Senator Jan McLucas on 8 September 2011.

The Disability Community Leaders will help promote and raise awareness of the 2011 International Day of People with Disability and National Disability Awards within their communities and participate in local and regionally based events in the lead up to these two important annual events.
